Dr. Ryne Pulido PLLC

Psychologist

Georgetown, TX

Hello! I’m Dr. Ryne Pulido. I’m a husband, father, and psychologist in Texas. I’m so excited to help folks build lives experienced as worth living and sharing. I started out as a therapist for children, adolescents, and young adults. Initially, “young adult” referred to college students. Then “young adult” expanded to include medical and law school students. And then it expanded to include early career professionals. Now, it has expanded to early career professionals struggling to #adult. Your struggle is real. Many of my clients struggle with intense emotional pain stemming from feelings of unlovability and fear of rejection. Their pain acts like an emotional dictator that commands them to withdraw from friends, family, work, school, hobbies, passions, interests, and other activities that make life worth living. Increasingly distant from their values (who they want to be deep inside their hearts) and goals (what they want to accomplish), they feel directionless and unsure of their best life because they’re so focused on protecting themselves from emotional pain. If this sounds like you, know it doesn’t have to be this way. You deserve a life worth living and sharing. Imagine what it would be like to control your actions (the things you do and say) amidst an emotional storm. What if you could be the person you want to be and move toward your goals just 20% more often? What would your relationships be like? Where would your career be? How much better would your sleep be?! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) I utilize a modern form of the tried-and-true Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Although ACT involves a radically new approach to happiness, over 1,000 clinical trials have been published in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating its effectiveness with diverse populations struggling with a wide range of psychological problems. ACT is focused on creating richer, fuller, and more meaningful lives rather than solely symptom reduction. When your life is bigger, the pain is smaller by comparison. ACT is a very active form of therapy. It’s not just talking about your problems and feelings (although there is always space for that). You will learn practical skills to move from struggling to flourishing. We will move through the program step-by-step, learning skills that build on each other. The good news is the skills are easy to learn and effective. You are headed into the unknown. Unfortunately, counseling and therapy is not 100% effective. Although I accept commercial insurance (if you go through Alma) and the Lotus Fund, the risk of committing time, money, effort, and heart to something that doesn’t work out is very real. I also can’t promise that you won’t feel uncomfortable, judged, and misunderstood, but you will have permission to express yourself and stop anything that is uncomfortable. I’ll listen with an open mind and you’re in the driver’s seat. But you are not alone. It’s your journey, but we’re a team—working together to help you become the person you want to be and build the life you want to live and share. All brains matter. I’ve spent my entire professional career working with neurodivergent folks and their families. I have a special place in my heart for ADHDers, autistics, and people with strong personalities. Are you in Texas, prefer virtual care, and ready to get to work? You can contact me by email (admin@rynepulidophd.com) or by calling or texting 512-537-4743. (Note it can take up to 72 hours for me to return a call, email, or text. If you are in a mental health emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest ER). …and if you’re sort of ready that’s cool too. Reach out to me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation! Need financial help? I offer sliding-scale fee slots via Open Path Collective. These slots are extremely limited, so please get in touch with me before signing up to work with me. I also accept the Lotus Fund via the Asian Mental Health Collective.

Hi, my name is Homero Lopez and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor. I specialize in working with adults that experience depression and anxiety associated with borderline, MDD, GAD and other challenges. I also work closely with relational challenges and couples. My focus is on non-traditional relationships. I work often with polycules, or individuals in nontraditional relationships to find balance and trust. My early sessions will be learning what you need and your goals for therapy. I have worked in places like the 988 crisis hotline and inpatient hospital settings where I provided comprehensive DBT group therapy for a wide variety of populations. I also heavily integrate Gottman methods into my couples work. I believe that everyone should have the capacity to live their life on their terms. Let's find that. I may sometimes seem to have a unique take on things as I think that we're all doing the best we can in the moment. I think that a lot of things people find to be different can make perfect sense given the right context. This doesn't mean that it's the most effective. Please feel free to schedule a call and let's see it make sense and what can be different.

Counseling for men who don't want counseling. Theraphe was founded with the distinct purpose to serve men just like you with intentionality and respect. After working with men of all backgrounds through previous crisis and outpatient work, one thing was abundantly clear: We men want better for ourselves and for our families. Yet too often, we do it alone. Therefore, we wanted to build a place where men felt comfortable asking for help. A place, no doubt, where we would want to go. No foo-foey flower patterned couches and no potpourri. No shame in our identity as men. We needed a place where we could navigate our goals with someone who shares our lens and shares our values as men, husbands, and fathers.

I am one of the leading experts in pre-surgical psychological evaluations. I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes. I also serve as an Associate Editor for two esteemed journals in the field – Psychological Assessment and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases.

Licensed Professional Counselor

UPLAND, CA

I am a licensed professional counselor in California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico. Currently, I am doing remote counseling only. I have experience in trauma, anxiety, grief/loss, addiction, anger management and life transitions. I am multi-culturally sensitive and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I was born in El Paso, Texas and both my parents are Mexican-American. I am bilingual Spanish/English. I moved to California in 2021 after living in Arizona for 30 years where I was faculty at Phoenix College teaching Psychology, Sociology and Women's Studies. I have Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (ASU) and an MA in Counseling (OU). I believe life is not about the destination but about the journey. Sometimes we run into rough spots along the way. Let me walk beside you for a while until you get past the rough spots and are able to continue on your own. Counseling is a process that you control by telling me what you want to accomplish and then we work together to get there. Sharing your story with a stranger is sometimes hard. I want to be your ally in therapy and provide a safe space where you can talk and be yourself without fear of judgment. I promise to be honest with you and support you as you explore who you are and who you want to be. I will work to earn your trust and to shine a light on the road ahead as we travel.

Our time together will be spent figuring the aspects- emotional, intellectual, sensory-based, and behavioral- of life through out your own story. Growing into learning how to listen to yourself so you can trust what it is you know, and what it is you need will be at the core of each session so that the feelings of stress, overwhelm, anxiousness, depression no longer keep you detached from yourself. The tools I use are done with cultural considerations, and by acknowledging the extra burdens social constructs and systemic environments put on you. I start with listening and being a witness to your story. With your consent, I use therapeutic tools to assist you in taking an objective stance in your story, and in offering yourself compassion. Continuing through developing and honing in on how you understand your experience through strengthening the connection between your mind and body. I am also trained in and have used EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) with children, teens, adults of both the neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc.) and neurotypical populations. EMDR is used in session, with your consent, when you feel the need to address larger internal hurdles such as phobias or trauma(s) (also known as PTSD or C-PTSD). All of the work will be done at your pace and with your specific needs in mind. I am an affirming counselor and believe counseling should be for everyone. I understand the systemic pressure that can have you trying to “get it right!” A benefit to you may be my stance on de-stigmatizing mental health by avoiding rigid diagnoses and accepting that there is more than one way to live and thrive in this/your world.  I will be ready when you are. Until then, good luck on your search. My license number is #93296. I am supervised by Stamatis Bogdanos, LPC-S | #64556 in Houston, Tx. If you are looking for a different type of counselor where you build an authentic relationship, you’re in the right place. To best help my patients, I believe that a solid and authentic relationship must be built between counselor and you. The most important part about counseling is that you feel heard and comfortable. My experience consists of 6 plus years of working with adults and adolescents in a private health setting. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. As a counselor, I have worked with patients who have anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and grief/grieving issues. My specialties lie in working with patients who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, and pregnancy issues, and abortion. Although I do follow a combination of counseling theories, my main framework would be Humanistic “Person-centered.” This means that I have great respect for your autonomy and your ability to discern your own path, solutions, and direction in life. My goal in therapy is to help you discover the answers that lie within yourself to better your life at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I look forward to helping you create some relief from your worries in life. Whether that's the stress and frustrations of daily life or overcoming personal trauma, I'm confident I can help guide you through the bad days and bring a different perspective that will help you take back control of your life.
